Managing PartnerAdept at putting together the right team and with extensive experience across the CEE region, Keith has an instinctive flair for identifying workable investments. These have been across a wide variety of sectors and can be categorised as businesses with great potential and management with whom he can empathise.
Before setting up CEE EP, Keith was Managing Partner of Copernicus Capital Partners, managing their private equity fund in Croatia and Serbia, investing in sectors such as telecoms and business to business services. As Managing Director of a private investment group since 1989, he has a record of successful investments in the real estate, development and venture capital sectors. In the late 1990’s he also headed a team which managed investments in many former state-owned enterprises in Poland across a variety of sectors, including specialist manufacturing and construction.
He is a UK Chartered Accountant and a graduate of King’s College, Cambridge.
Dario is a specialist investment professional focusing on clean and conventional energy with extensive experience of investing in large infrastructure projects throughout the CEE region. He is the partner responsible for investments at P4E Srl, the sole advisor and co-fundraiser for the Energheia renewable investment fund which builds, commissions, finances and holds utility scale renewable energy investments in Southern Europe.
Dario has advised on start-ups, foreign acquisitions, M&A transactions, project financing, financial restructuring and privatisations across a wide spectrum of sectors, but with particular focus on energy, infrastructure and industrial projects (roads, airport, rail, parking, water, ports, metals, cement, and automotive industries).
He has worked alongside governments and with financial institutions – global and local, large and small – across CEE and Western Europe. Outside Europe, he established an investment banking base in Beijing in partnership with a major European bank and in the early days of his career worked in Russia and South America, in particular Argentina and Brazil. He has served on the Management and Supervisory Boards of a number of listed and privately held companies.
Dario has worked with entrepreneurs and companies across the CEE region for many years, helping them achieve their growth targets, improve their liquidity or the quality of funding, raise equity, properly structure their companies in order to conquer new markets and, wherever possible, steer away from trouble.
Dario majored in Economics at the University of California in Los Angeles and studied EU Business Law and the Italian Commercial Code at Bocconi University, Milan. He speaks English, Italian, Polish and Spanish.
At CEE EP, Bill has been involved in the investments in Budapest Metropolitan University, Walltopia and Javna Razsvetljava; he is a member of the Supervisory Board of all three.
Prior to joining CEE EP, he worked in Poland for almost 20 years as a Director in Poland Corporate Finance and earlier in Copernicus Finance Polska and Armada Corporate Finance, advising on and executing transactions in the CEE region. Bill first came to Poland in the early 1990’s to work on a private equity project with the UK Know How Fund. He subsequently led various privatisation initiatives in public transport, water and energy.
Among Bill’s many projects was FON – a Polish manufacturer of heavy axles – where he worked closely with the management to deliver operational improvements and later secured an industry buyer for the company. Bill was also involved in the acquisition of Mostostal Warszawa by the Spanish construction giant Acciona and went on to lead the strategic review for Mostostal’s further development, evaluating a number of acquisition opportunities.
Bill was previously an Army Officer in the Royal Engineers, after which he was Operations Director of a UK quoted manufacturing company and Managing Director of a UK private retail company. He is an engineering graduate of King’s College Cambridge, holds an MBA from Henley Management College and is a qualified ICAEW Corporate Finance Advisor. He is also a master yachtsman and enjoys orienteering.
Director and AIFM Risk Manager
Mr. Savvas Orphanides is a member of the Board of Directors at Emergo Wealth. He is a holder of the Competency Certificate for all investment services issued by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, and he has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, inter alia in the fields of wealth management and investment advice. Until October 2014, he was an Executive Director in a leading, Cyprus-based investment advisory firm, where he previous served as a Chief Executive Officer.
He previously served as the Group Chief Executive Officer in a chief financial services group in Cyprus, where he was amongst the founding members and a major shareholder. He also worked as an Investment Advisor in a global leader in wealth management institution, where he delivered inter alia, tailored management services, equity portfolio management and advisory brokerage services. He also has a rounded experience in insurance services and legal advice.
Savvas, since 1999, he has been serving as a member of the Board of Directors of various private and listed companies.
Prior to working in the investment management industry, he held an Undergraduate Scholarship (Bachelor of Laws) at the University of Bristol, in United Kingdom. He has also qualified the advocate licence from the Cyprus Bar Association. Savvas also holds an Associateship Diploma (ACCI) by the Chartered Insurance Institute, where he awarded the Barnfield Prize. Subsequent to that, he completed his Masters of Business Administration at the Insead Business School in Fontainebleau of France. He is also a SFA licensed advisor and UK broker dealer.
Before joining CEE EP, Janusz worked for Abris Capital Partners, specialising in telecoms, manufacturing and clean energy. Among his projects at Abris, was the 2010 investment into the struggling Polish young fashion retailer, Etos. After a successful turn-around it is now the most profitable company in its sector.
Another successful transaction was Mykogen Polska – a leading mushroom compost producer – which is near to doubling its revenues and profitability in less than two years.
Prior to Abris, Janusz was CEO of Adriatic Kabel – a Croatian cable TV business – where he led the acquisition and consolidation of 13 companies and developed Adriatic to become one of the two leading cable operators in Croatia, quadrupling the value of the company by the time of its sale in 2007. Previously Janusz was the investment director responsible for Croatia’s leading courier business – Overseas Express – coaching the management, guiding business strategy and execution and tripling the value of the company over a four year period.
Janusz also worked as a director at Armada Asset Management, Copernicus Captial Poland and as a Country Managing Director at Copernicus Capital Croatia. He graduated in engineering from Łódź Technical University and holds an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland.
Prior to joining CEE EP, Tamas was Managing Partner of Virgin Green Fund Emerging Markets an Emerging European midmarket private equity fund supported by Sir Richard Branson focusing mainly on sustainability themes such as resource efficiency, consumer sustainability and renewables.
Before this, Tamas spent 11 years with Bancroft Private Equity covering the whole Emerging Europe region including Turkey. During this time he spent 6 months in Istanbul acting as interim CEO of an auto parts company. As partner and member of the Investment Committee he was responsible, among other things, for investments in companies such as Standard Profil (automotive components, TK, BG), Starman (cable operator, EST), EKO Faktoring (SME factoring, TK), Farutex (leading foodservice company in PL) and Computer Press (print media, B2C e-commerce CZ). Tamas also played key roles in Nowaco (#1 food service company in CZ, SK and HU), Bonton (media & entertainment group, CZ) and Dumagas (trucking and logistics, RO).
Tamas began his career as a financial journalist working first for the leading Hungarian business daily (Napi Gazdasag) and then for HVG, the number one Hungarian financial and economic weekly. He moved into investing as head of equity research with Concorde Securities in 1997.
Tamas holds a Masters degree in Economics and Sociology from Budapest University of Economics (Corvinus University) and an MSc in Finance and Economics from the University of Illinois. A keen runner, sailor, skier and tennis player, he also loves theatre and film and speaks English, Hungarian, some Russian and basic Spanish.
Brian has broad experience in working as a financial executive for companies in different sectors, such as: FON (car axle manufacturing), Wprost (Weekly news magazine and internet sites), Chesapeake Packaging (light manufacturing), Pilicka Telefonia (local telecommunications operator), HBO (cable television channel), AIG (insurance), Follett bookstores (university bookstore chain), and Hines Lumber (wholesale building supplier).
Brian has also served as a member of various Management Boards and currently is a member of the Board of Directors for the Fulbright Commission in Poland.
Brian’s background provides him with a unique perspective, which allows him to assist companies in addressing their challenges and improving their profitability and transparency.
Brian studied at Northwestern University in Evanston where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and at Cass Business in London where he received a Master’s degree in Finance.
In his free time Brian enjoys playing tennis, hiking in the mountains and walking along the beach.
Judi joined CEE EP after 7 years at Eversheds, where she headed the M&A practice in Poland and served as a coordinator for projects across the CEE region. Based in Poland since the mid-1990’s, Judi has witnessed first-hand the maturing of the CEE business environment and of the law and legal services supporting those business needs. She has advised international, regional and Polish clients on transactional matters in various sectors, including telecommunications, manufacturing and TMT.
Judi is a graduate of Wellesley College and Harvard Law School. She previously served as a Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission. She enjoys movies from Hollywood’s Golden Age, cooking and travel.
Magda specialises in M&A law, corporate law, international transactions and foreign investments in Poland. For almost 8 years Magda was a member of the Eversheds M&A team in Poland. Magda has worked on many projects across the CEE region. She has advised clients on the acquisition of companies and assets in many industries, including large M&A deals. She has also advised clients on greenfield investments in Poland.
Magda is a graduate of the Law and Administration Faculty at the Warsaw University and has a diploma from the Institute of Continuing Education of the Cambridge University (course at the Warsaw University). Magda has also completed internships in a law firm in London and in the ECHR in Strasbourg. Magda speaks fluent English and basic French, and is currently learning Mandarin.
In her spare time, Magda enjoys music, the theatre and travelling.
Before joining CEE EP, Marek was a Director of Rubicon Capital Partners focused on project finance deals and M&A transactions. He was in charge of deal structuring, financial modelling, business strategy development and supervision of the due diligence process across various sectors including conventional energy and renewables. Before Rubicon, Marek worked for Lasanoz Finance, State Street Bank in Luxembourg and for the Polish Supreme Chamber of Control (NIK), where he was auditing data on enterprises.
Marek has been involved in a range of transactions across the CEE region, including advisory to Naspers on their acquisition of the portal Bankier.pl. He has also done a range of advisory work for the Polish copper mining company, KGHM, from researching international acquisition opportunities and preparing feasibility studies and development proposals, to advisory on building coal mine methane capture and cogeneration plants in Poland, representing developers and investors. Marek has extensive experience in renewable energy projects, including photovoltaic and wind. He also ran the process for Canadian investors to obtain numerous extraction and exploration concessions on coal deposits in the Upper Silesian and Lublin coal basins.
Marek has an MA from Warsaw School of Economics and was an economics scholar at University College Dublin. He has lived in Luxembourg and Vienna and speaks English, Polish, German and Russian. He is also an accomplished ballroom dancer.
Investment professional with 15 years of experience in private equity and real estate in CEE region. Investment experience covers start-up investments, investments in real estate development/asset management and large businesses, as well as fund management and investor relations. Currently working as a regional investment manager focusing on investments in infrastructure and specialised manufacturing.
Igor joined the team of CEE Equity Partners after almost 8 years of investment management responsibility within Bluehouse Capital – a very successful regional PERE fund manager focusing on real estate investments (development and asset management). Prior to that Igor worked for 3 years for Erste Bank Group where he was recruited to develop a real estate consulting and brokerage business for its Croatian operations. Igor started his career working in investment banking in Milan, Italy, but very quickly he moved to Croatia to join one of the first PE/VC funds that was operating in Croatia at that time.
Igor holds a Masters’ degree in international finance from Brandeis IBS/Bocconi MIEM programmes, and is fluent in English, Italian and Croatian. In his free time, Igor enjoys tennis, cycling, running and mountaineering.
Before joining CEE EP, Krzysztof was holding positions of a Director of Strategy, Planning and Analysis and Capital Investment Manager at PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, being responsible for strategy and M&A primarily for the renewable energy segment. He was engaged in M&A deal execution, including acquisition of a portfolio of wind farms from Iberdrola and DONG Energy, with over PLN 1 billion in deal size. He was involved in business strategy formulation, regulatory issues and optimization of operations and development projects for the wind energy segment. Before PGE, Krzysztof worked for Raiffeisen Investment, an investment banking arm of the Raiffeisen Group, working on M&A deals in heavy industry and chemicals, and for EY Corporate Finance, focusing on business advisory, i.e. business planning, restructuring, appraisal of investment projects, for road, railway and airport infrastructure projects.
Krzysztof has been involved in a range of advisory projects for private and public companies and for government agencies including preparation of strategic business plans for the companies from PKP Group or Polish Airports. He was also in charge of M&A advisory projects executed for Nafta Polska and Polish State Treasury on the privatization process of three chemical capital groups.
Krzysztof holds a degree in Finance and Banking from Warsaw School of Economics and was an economics scholar at University of Amsterdam. He speaks English and Polish. He is also a keen snowboarder, road biker and backpacking traveler.
Octavian began his career in Romania as a stockbroker before moving to Central America – Belize and Panama – for 7 years. Here he worked for a number of banks and consultancy firms, gaining extensive experience in company formation and structuring, asset protection, offshore funds formation, trusts, securitisation of assets etc. and was part of the team which established Banco Universal in Panama. In charge of the medical financing division, he was responsible for construction, equipment purchase and asset securitisation for hospitals and medical facilities throughout Panama, Costa Rica and Venezuela.
On his return to Romania he became business development manager for Copernicus Capital and Abris Romania, drawing on his local expertise, identifying and securing investment opportunities. He gained experience in Combined Heat & Power (CHP) generation with Eneas – an energy efficiency solutions company with operations in Belgium, Holland, France and Romania – where he was advising the company on development and strategy.
Octavian holds a law degree from Cluj University and speaks English, Spanish, Romanian and French. He is also a keen sportsman, adept at sabre fencing and playing the didgeridoo!
With prior engagements in audit, private equity and banking, Radu has hands-on experience with both partnering with successful companies but also in restructuring large corporates.
Prior to joining CEE Equity Partners, Radu was Senior Restructuring Manager in Banca Comerciala Romana, largest Romanian bank part of Erste Group. He was in charge of large corporate clients and managed a diverse portfolio of companies for which he arranged: restructuring of credit facilities, M&A support to attract new equity and managed complex reorganization deals with other creditors and stakeholders.
Before BCR, Radu worked for Axxess Capital Partners, a private equity house based in Bucharest. He was involved in deals in Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. His experience spans from manufacturing, to retail, financial services, logistic and B2B services. He takes pride in his role in building, alongside the entrepreneurs, the largest toys and children products retail chain in Romania operating under Noriel brand.
Radu is a graduate of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and holds an MSc in Finance from DOFIN. He is a chartered auditor, an ACCA graduate and also holds a Law degree.
Senior Investment Analyst
Before joining CEE EP Michał spent over 3 years working for British American Tobacco in London, UK and Lausanne, Switzerland first as a management trainee and later as a Treasury Analyst with responsibility for debt refinancing, short term liquidity management and hedging the groups’ global FX exposure. Prior to BAT Michał worked for the Unicredit M&A team in Warsaw.
Michał has a BA from Warsaw School of Economics and holds a Master’s degree in Finance from ESADE Business School in Barcelona. He is a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) and a CFA charterholder.
Michał is a dedicated backpacker and jogger and has worked as a lifeguard for the American Red Cross in the US.
Senior Investment Analyst
Before joining CEE EP Dariusz completed an internship with Advent International supporting the deal teams with sourcing transactions, research, company reports database compilation and financial modelling. Prior to this, Darek worked for a brokerage house, completed an internship in E&Y and ran his own online construction supplies business.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting from Warsaw School of Economics with specialisation in Investment Banking and Financial Markets.
Darek loves windsurfing and is a keen footballer, regularly playing in amateur leagues.
Senior Investment Analyst
Before joining CEE EP Grzegorz worked for PKP SA as an Analyst in the Market Analysis Department. His responsibilities included investment project evaluation, corporate governance and optimisation of the monthly cash flow model.
Prior to PKP he gained a broad range of professional experience through employment and internships with two asset management companies, a “Big Four” due diligence team and a private equity fund.
Grzegorz is a graduate of Warsaw School of Economics and was an exchange student at the Richard Ivey School of Business in London, Ontario, Canada.
He is a keen windsurfer, skier and history buff.
Formerly a Senior Financial Analyst for J.P. Morgan, based in her hometown of New York City, Diana worked in JPM’s Prime Brokerage division within their Corporate Investment Bank. Her responsibilities included directly reporting to the SEC and the US Federal Reserve Bank with regards to regulatory liquidity metrics, as well as functioning as an adviser to the Prime Brokerage business. Previous to her time at JPM, Diana worked as an aide to Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney’s in the campaign budgets office, as well as founding her own organic food business in New York.
Diana received her undergraduate B.A. of Economics degree from Clark University. While working full time for JPM, she also passed several FINRA securities licenses and also completed a full time M.S. of Finance graduate degree program at The Zicklin School of Business (Baruch College).
Diana is an avid traveller. Born in Poland, Diana has a dual EU/US citizenship with significant international exposure. She has travelled extensively throughout Europe, U.S., Africa, the Caribbean, South America, and Asia. She also enjoys road biking.
Before joining CEE EP, Pavel worked as an analyst at Lithuanian PE fund Zabolis Partners, where he was involved in various renewable energy projects and was responsible for the fund’s operations in Poland. He was also a member of a few different non-profit organizations.
Pavel is an Economics graduate from the University of Exeter. Prior to moving to the United Kingdom, he studied at the Vilnius University. He is currently working towards a CFA designation.
Pavel is fluent in English, Polish, Lithuanian, Russian and Spanish, and has always been interested in architecture, and likes to explore it every time he visits new places.
Before joining CEE EP in 2016, Monika completed an internship at PwC. Before that, she completed internships with KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. and KGHM International in Canada. There she assisted with internal audits working on site in Sudbury and in KGHMI’s headquarters in Vancouver. Before KGHM, she worked as Analyst at Credit Suisse within the Global Operations Graduate Programme.
Monika holds a degree in Finance from Wrocław University of Economics. During her studies, she participated in the UE & CIMA CBA Programme and was involved in several non-profit organizations, including the Students’ Forum Business Centre Club.
Monika is interested in psychology and languages; she enjoys music and travelling.
Before joining CEE EP Ling spent 4 years operating import/export business between China and Central Europe. She has also been working as a freelance translator. Prior to this, Ling worked in the procurement department of an international trading company in Beijing and completed an internship in China Radio International.
Ling holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Polish Studies from Beijing Foreign Studies University and is currently studying MBA at the Warsaw University of Technology Business School.
Ling speaks fluent Chinese, English and Polish. She is also a keen badminton player and traveller.
Before joining CEE EP Alexandra was the Brand Manager for Chopin Vodka in Warsaw and a Marketing Coordinator for Chobani in New York City. She also completed internships with Southern Wine & Spirits and One Kings Lane. Alexandra has experience in the areas of brand development, distribution and sales strategy.
Alexandra holds a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University and is currently involved with the Stanford Alumni Association of Poland. A product of an international upbringing, she was raised between California, Warsaw and Manila and speaks English, Polish and Spanish. Alexandra has traveled to over 60 countries around the world and is active in fostering child education programs in the Philippines.
Before joining CEE EP, Tamas worked in the Real Estate Investment Banking team of Credit Suisse in London, advising European clients on mergers, acquisitions and capital raising. He focused on pan-European operators of logistics real estate, shopping malls and UK-based lodging companies. Prior to Credit Suisse, Tamas gained internship experience at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, OTP Bank and Rocket Internet.
He holds an MSc in Financial Economics from Said Business School, University of Oxford, and a BSc from Bocconi University, during which he spent an exchange semester at the Wharton School in Philadelphia.
Having lived in seven countries during the last six years, Tamas is a keen traveller and divides his free time between family, friends, volunteering and sports. He enjoys skiing and canoeing.
Prior joining CEE EP in 2017, David was an analyst at CORPIN, Rothschild & Co affiliate in Prague, covering primarily Czech Republic and Slovakia. Among other projects, he was advising on M&A transactions in telecommunications, e-commerce and consumer goods.
David holds MSc in Financial Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam as well as Bachelor’s degree in Finance from University of Economics, Prague.
He is Slovak native and speaks English, Czech and Polish. In his free time, David enjoys swimming, skiing and ice hockey.
